The new cake product will be available on Grofers and will be made available in general trade in the future.Mondelez International, an American International Food Company formerly known as Kraft Foods which also produces beverages has taken the decision to enter the cake market with a package of over Rs.2000 crore. It is the maker of Cadbury chocolates. The idea of investment came after discovering the rise in the demand for consumption of the in-home snack in this pandemic along with the restriction in the movement of the people.

Sudhanshu Nagpal, associate director, marketing (biscuits), Mondelez said 'the newly launched Cadbury chocobakes for a single and multi-pack priced at Rs.10 and Rs.60 will be available on Groferes and will be subsequently rolled out across modern and general trade'.Mondelez also owns Oreo cookies and Bournvita Health Drinks had already entered the market but built a strong portfolio since 2011.

“We continue to be bullish on the snacking opportunity. The importance of snacking will go up as consumers spend more time indoors and are more cautious of what they are putting in their mouths," Nagpal said.Rival Britannia too showed the growth in sales in the months of April and May with growth rates of 20% and 28% respectively.

Last Tuesday, head of marketing of Britannia Industries, Vinay Subramanyam said its popular brand Marie Gold grew by 'leaps and bounds' but the brand's marketing plans and launches were still this years. “We don’t want to pause our plans, that is, through ads on television and digital," he added.
